Octobriana #1

Octobriana #1

Steve Orlando, author of the innovative adaptation of Paradise Lost, and Chaz Truog, artist of Grant Morrison's legendary Animal Man, present to you a new graphic novel series about a newborn goddess of passion fighting to earn her title and win back her lover.

Octobriana is cursed by her first lover to walk the earth until she can prove she is worthy of her godhood. Abandoned in a world she doesn't understand, she must prove seven times that she understands humanity's need. Only after this will she be allowed to receive her full abilities. Each exciting labor brings her one step closer to understanding humanity and loving those she is supposed to protect.

The first labor comes when Liuba, an enraged telepath, sets loose a viral thought plague that attacks lovers. Octobriana's best friend is the first victim. To avenge him, Octobriana must stem the plague's spread and protect her homeland. The path to victory is a wild journey through Soviet era Russia's dirty, magical backstreets. Only her fantastic powers over emotion and her inventive mastery of folklore magic allow Octobriana to win back her people's passions.

Octobriana drops readers into an atheist Russia where believers still worship in their kitchens and bathrooms. This is a Russia where good citizens meet with secret passwords and lash out with pornography against a government that chokes their sexual desires. Her quest to earn her name is a rollercoaster of urban sorcery and white knuckle passion. Octobriana can only know her people by walking the perilous streets among them, and she can only know herself by fighting for them.
